Evgenii Baiakhmetov

Evgenii doing grass sampling

I completed my PhD at Jagiellonian University (Kraków, Poland). I am inspired by new technologies that are advancing science and enhancing our understanding of life processes. In my genomic studies, I apply PacBio, Illumina, and complexity reduction-based sequencing technologies. I am constantly working to expand my knowledge and skills in bioinformatics so that I can fully understand and utilise genetic data in interdisciplinary research. Additionally, I have ten years of experience in both “wet” and “dry” lab research projects.

I am currently a special researcher assistant in the Community, Ecology, and Conservation group, led by Professor Kyle Tomlinson at Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG, China). My main scientific interests include hybridisation and speciation, phylogenetic reconstruction, and high-throughput omics data analyses.
